Azerbaijan, UNAOC announce competition

Azerbaijan and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) announced a competition of projects in the frame of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, which will be held in Baku from May 29 to June 1 this year, supporting cultural diversity and living together in society.

The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry reported that to participate in the competition are invited various non-governmental organizations that can assist in the sharing of peaceful coexistence in a diverse world - members of the League of Arab States and the countries of Central Asia, charity organizations, research institutes and universities, religious organizations, trade unions, industry associations, foundations and local communities.

The announcement of the contest is posted on the UN Alliance of Civilizations - www.unaoc.org.

Baku will host II World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue under the patronage of the President Ilham Aliyev. The major partners of the project are UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, ISESCO and the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations.

It will discuss issues hindering the normal development of intercultural relations, and the debate will be organized to address threats, as well as conceptual, practical and political aspects, the impact of socio-cultural, religious and economic spheres.

The forum is planned for the first time in the world to hold a meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the East and West.

The forum will be attended by heads of international organizations, more than 100 ministers, experts, heads of think tanks, academicians and representatives of the centers involved in intercultural dialogue.

The Forum is held every two years.
