Leyla Aliyeva visits orphanages in Baku districts
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva
visited on Thursday several orphanages in Baku districts on the eve
of the New Year, AzerTac state news agency reported.
She first visited orphanage No 1 in the Nasimi district.
Leyla Aliyeva was informed that the building was constructed in
1930 and was made an orphanage two years later.
The orphanage was reconstructed on the initiative of the first lady
of Azerbaijan, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban
Aliyeva in 2005.
It houses 42 under-4 children who were abandoned or rejected.
The vice president of the Foundation viewed the bedrooms here.
Leyla Aliyeva attended the New Year festivities for children and
handed presents to them.
The vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation then visited
orphanage No 3 in the Khatai district in the capital.
Director of the orphanage Mahbuba Huseynova praised the care and
attention shown to children by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
She noted that 85 children lived in the facility.
A summer recreation camp in Buzovna was built for the orphanage
at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Huseynova
added.
Leyla Aliyeva watched a New Year cultural program which featured
dancing and singing performance by the children. The vice-president
of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation presented keepsakes to the
children.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva
also attended New Year festivities at orphanage No 2 in the
Surakhany district.
The facility is home to 131 children aged from 3 to 18. The
children are served by 78 teachers and technical workers.
A modern 200-seat dining room was built at the facility with the
support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2006. In different
years, the Foundation presented two vehicles, a TV set, a computer
and other necessary equipment to the orphanage.
