AzAL customers to enjoy mobile services on flights
Preparations are underway to apply mobile communication services in Azerbaijani aircraft for the first time under a project unmatched in the entire CIS, according to the state airline AzAL.
In accordance with the contract signed between AzAL, Azerbaijani cellular operator Azerfon (Nar Mobile) and Switzerland-based OnAir company, mobile communication services will be launched in AzAL planes.
"AzAL is preparing to start applying on-flight mobile communication services on the basis of Azerfon mobile operator services and relevant equipment of Swiss OnAir company. Some technical work is already underway," an official of the airline said.
According to the 10-year long exclusive contract signed with Azerfon, mobile communication services will be available only on AzAL planes. "[The project] demonstrates the development of both the national aviation and our telecommunication industry," the official said.
