Hungarian leader starts visit to Azerbaijan
Hungarian President Pal Schmitt arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit on Thursday to hold talks focusing on expanding economic, trade and energy cooperation between the two countries.
Hungary is one of the potential buyers of gas to be produced during the second stage of developing Azerbaijan’s Shahdaniz gas condensate field in the Caspian Sea, which begins in 2017.
During Schmitt’s visit, Baku will host a meeting of the inter-governmental commission on Friday to discuss prospects for Hungarian-Azerbaijani economic cooperation. The commission is co-chaired by Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Hungarian Deputy Minister of Economics Roza Nagy.
On the same day, a joint business forum will be organized in Baku by the Azerbaijani export and investment promotion agency Azpromo. The event will be joined by the two countries’ businessmen working in the fields including agriculture and food industry, industries, construction, education, consulting services, ICT, finance, healthcare and logistics.
