EU special rep for South Caucasus to visit Azerbaijan
European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort will visit Azerbaijan on October 26-27, as a part of his regional tour.
This will be Lefort's second visit to Azerbaijan after his appointment to this position. He visited Baku in September.
Lefort replaced Pierre Morel who served as EUSR for the crisis in Georgia until 31 August 2011 and Peter Semneby who served as EUSR for the South Caucasus until 28 February 2011.
On Monday, Lefort arrived in Tbilisi. During the visit, Lefort will meet with the Georgian government's senior officials.
The meetings in Tbilisi will discuss issues of security within the EU relations with South Caucasus countries.
A wide range of issues regarding the occupied Georgian territories and situation there will also be discussed.
Philippe Lefort is a French diplomat of more than 20 years' experience. He has devoted large parts of his career to the Caucasus and Russia.
