PACE rapporteurs due Nov. 5 to observe Azeri vote

BAKU – Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) are due to arrive in Azerbaijan on November 5 to observe parliamentary elections.

Joseph Debono Grech of Malta and Pedro Agramunt of Spain will monitor the polling on November 7 along with the PACE short-term election observation mission.

The co-rapporteurs, who will wrap up their visit November 9, are expected to prepare a report in conclusion and further submit it to the assembly’s session.

Agramunt will pay his first visit to the country. He was appointed to the post at a PACE session in June, succeeding Andres Herkel of Estonia.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority of votes system in 125 electoral constituencies.
