Lukashenko to visit Azerbaijan
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled to pay a visit to Azerbaijan in the first half of this year, Belarusian Ambassador in Baku Nikolay Paskevich told a press conference Tuesday.
According to him, the two governments are expected to sign a number of agreements during the visit.
"To date, legal framework consisting of over 50 bilateral agreements has been created between Belarus and Azerbaijan, and that framework regulates the operation of both Belarusian and Azerbaijani enterprises. But we believe this is not enough, therefore, about 20 more documents are being drafted."
Paskevich said about 10 agreements that are in the making will be submitted for signing during Lukashenko's Baku visit. The two countries’ departments have already agreed upon the draft agreement on mutual protection of investments, which will regulate investments made by Belarus and Azerbaijan, Paskevich said.
The ambassador noted that the inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation will hold its sixth meeting in Baku ahead of President Lukashenko’s visit.
The inter-governmental commission was established in 2004.*
