PACE to name new co-rapporteur after June session
Andres Herkel of Estonia has completed his tenure as a
co-rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of
Europe (PACE) for Azerbaijan and will now be succeeded, head of the
Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Samad Seyidov has said.
Seyidov said in an interview with the ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party’s website that the Council of Europe is charged with appointing the new co-rapporteur and the appointment is expected to be announced following the assembly’s June session.
"The new rapporteur, along with fulfilling CE values, conducts monitoring of commitments. The rapporteur is not to meddle in the country’s internal affairs and be far from taking sides. We hope that’s the way it’s going to be," Seyidov added.*
