Azerbaijani, Polish FMs hold meeting [UPDATE]

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with his Polish counterpart, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Zbigniew Rau during his visit to the country, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

According to the ministry, first one-on-one meeting between Bayramov and Rau was held, which continued in a wide format with the participation of delegations from both sides.

The ministers discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda, expanding cooperation on international platforms, in particular cooperation with the OSCE, as well as regional and international security issues.

Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to relations with Poland, and that relations between the countries are developing at the level of strategic partnership.

He also spoke about "Joint Declaration on the Roadmap for Strategic Partnership and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and of Poland" signed by presidents of the countries in 2017.

The minister noted that this year is marked by the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Rau emphasized that the bilateral political relations are at a very good level and there are opportunities for further development of relations in the economic sphere.

He also highly appreciated the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Bayramov informed his Polish counterpart about the post-conflict situation in the region [following the 2020 second Karabakh war], implementation of trilateral statements [signed between Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders following the war], including respective steps taken by Azerbaijan, the cause of the tensions in the region and violation of the provisions of the trilateral statement by Armenia.

Besides, the diplomat informed about restoration work carried out in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenian occupation [in the second Karabakh war].

The sides exchanged views on Azerbaijan's cooperation with the OSCE, the organization's contribution to the post-conflict normalization process, as well as regional security issues, including the situation in Ukraine.
