Europe’s biggest cake presented on Azeri leader’s birthday
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s 48th birthday was celebrated
on Thursday in the northwestern city of Ganja in a unique event
during which Europe’s biggest cake was presented and distributed to
the public.
About 30,000 local residents attended the ceremony at the central square named after Azerbaijan’s late national leader, former President Heydar Aliyev.
The cake is 48 meters long and weighs 11 tons. Some 3.5 tons of flour, 3 tons of sugar, 500 kg of butter, 35,000 eggs and 500 kg of nuts were used to cook it. They made a composition in the center of the cake dedicated to the president's birthday, as well as depicted historical and architectural monuments and sights of Ganja.*
