Hackers inflicting heavy loss to AzAL nabbed
Azerbaijan`s National Security Ministry has nabbed a
group of hackers responsible for breaking into state airline AzAL`s
website and inflicting damage valued at 100,000 manats ($125,000)
to the company.
According to the ministry`s Public Relations Center, the criminals hacked into information posted on the Web and conducted illegal transactions using credits cards of foreign nationals to appropriate tickets ordered by e-mail and further sell them for cash at cheaper prices.
Investigators have established that seven Azerbaijani citizens, one Nigerian, as well as foreigners living abroad whose identity is currently being determined, had intruded onto AzAL`s www.azal.az web-page to carry out illegal transactions using data from the credit cards of citizens of the United States and other countries.
A criminal case has been opened on charges of inflicting heavy damage and plundering large quantities of property by illegally entering the information stored on computers.
