Residents of Baku woke up to a dense blanket of dust on August 23.

The Ecology Ministry announced that such a dusty weather in Baku and Absheron Peninsula is caused by dusty air masses entering from the territory of Turkmenistan.

The National Environmental Monitoring Department reported that analysis of atmospheric air samples is conducted every three hours, Trend reported.

The level of dustiness was 20 percent above the sanitary norm as of 09:00 and exceeded 30 percent as of 12:00.

Dusty conditions will continue till August 26.

"Such meteorological conditions, dust fog will continue in the next three days,” the deputy Director of the National Environmental Monitoring Department of the Ministry Matanat Avazova earlier told Report.

“That is, weak winds will be observed till August 26, the temperature and relative humidity will be high, which can lead to increase in dust. People with respiratory tract problems recommended to stay at home.”
