Famous Azerbaijani surrealist artist Mehriban Efendi will take part in the International "Surrealism Now" exhibition, to be held in Porto, Portugal from August 9 to September 6.
The event will be held in Vieria Portuense gallery. It is expected to bring together representatives from 30 countries.
The artist will represent Azerbaijan with her work, named "Miriad" .
"This project, which was presented in an ancient castle of the XII century Paco De Ega city of Coimbra in late June, aroused great interest of art connoisseurs. So we decided to present this exhibition in other cities of Portugal," Mehriban Efendi said.
The winner of international exhibition "Shining" in Bulgaria got the invitation to participate in the exhibition in 2010 with the support of the Foundation Biss Barreto and under supervision of famous Portuguese artist Santiago Ribeiro.
Held since 2010 with the assistance of many European organizations and under supervision of Santiago Ribeiro, the exhibition is aimed at spotting and supporting talented contemporary surrealist artists from around the world.
In 2003, Efendi took part in an international exhibition organized by Australian artist Paris Saint-Martin, becoming one of the top ten computer artists. Meanwhile, in 2009, the artist's work was presented at an international exhibition in the Netherlands. In 2010, Efendi was selected as one of the 56 best surrealist painters in the world.
The work "Harmony" presented at this exhibition was published in the book "Art Takes Time Square". It was recognized as one of the best works in 2012.
