YARAT Contemporary Art Space is delighted to invite everyone to the screening of 'Mustang', directed by Turkey’s Deniz Gamze Erguven.

There are some days that, like a gust of wind, will suddenly upend your entire life – for better or worse.
Mustang, directed by Turkish director Deniz Gamze Erguven, has been described as the ‘Virgin Suicides in Anatolia’.
The film is set in rural south-eastern Turkey and tells the story of five sisters, who are raised by their conservative grandmother and uncle, who together are intent on marrying them off and protecting their honor. Provoked by the girls frolicking on the beach, the story unfold to bring up issues of family honor, forced marriages and the demonization of female sexuality in Turkey - striking a chord too with problems faced by young Azerbaijanis.
The film will be followed by a short discussion with local experts on these issues to discuss some of the questions raised by the film.
The film will be shown in Turkish with English Subtitles.
The venue isYARAT Contemporary Art Centre, Multifunctional Room. The entrance is free.
