New facility to incorporate petrochemicals makers

10 September 2008 21:48 (UTC+04:00)
A petrochemicals complex comprising about 20 local plants and operating with the use of cutting-edge technology will be built in Azerbaijan.
The state chemical maker, Azerkimya, has signed a relevant memorandum with the world`s majors in London to implement the project. The facility will turn Azerbaijan into a major producer of petrochemicals and nitrogen fertilizers.
Construction work is to be carried out over three years. Goods produced at the facility, after fully meeting domestic demand, will be exported.
The complex will be one of its kind in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), experts say. It will meet the highest security standards on environmental protection.
Along with opening highly-paid jobs, the complex will boost the development of the country`s non-oil sector. International companies have launched long-term training sessions to increase the professionalism of its staff.
Further to the meetings held in London, representatives of the world`s leading companies are due to visit Baku soon.
