Civil servants’ retirement age to be set at 65

BAKU – New amendments to Azerbaijan’s laws envision setting the maximum age of employees in budget-funded institutions at 65.

Upon reaching the age of 65, the duration of employment may be extended for one year by the head of the relevant executive body. A total of five such extensions may be granted, according to the bill on changes and addenda to the country’s Labor Code sent to parliament by President Ilham Aliyev.

A Milli Majlis committee discussed the amendments on Wednesday and decided to put the bill on parliament’s agenda.
