CBA: Trade balance surplus amounts to 19% of GDP in Azerbaijan [UPDATE]

By Trend

In the first nine months of 2018, the trade balance surplus in Azerbaijan was 19 percent of the GDP, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Elman Rustamov said at a press conference in Baku on Oct. 30.

Rustamov stressed that export of the non-oil goods in January-September 2018 increased by 13 percent compared to the same period of 2017.

Moreover, he stressed that the sharp decline in exchange rates of Azerbaijan’s trading partners did not have a significant impact on the country's foreign trade balance.

Rustamov added that Azerbaijan’s strategic currency reserves reached $45 billion.

The CBA forecasts that positive trends will continue until the end of 2018.
