Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts’ powers expanded

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the Law on the Chamber of Accounts.
In accordance with the legislation which has been in power until now, in case of revealing criminal offenses connected with the control over the management of state property, execution of the state budget, the state budget revenues obtained as a result of privatization of state property, use of state budget funds allocated to legal entities and municipalities, the Chamber of Accounts immediately sends relevant files to the General Prosecutor's Office.
In accordance with the changes, this part of the law (Article 2. The main functions of the Chamber of Accounts) is now as follows: in case of revealing administrative offense or a crime connected with the control over the management of state property, execution of the state budget, state budget revenues obtained as a result of privatization of state property, the use of state budget funds allocated to legal entities and municipalities, the Chamber of Accounts immediately submits the relevant files to a relevant executive body or the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office.
Moreover, if earlier relevant files were sent to the General Prosecutor's Office, from now on the files can be sent to the relevant executive body.
