SOCAR: No environmental violation penalty since early 2017

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR hasn’t been fined for environmental violations since the beginning of 2017, Head of SOCAR Environment Department Azer Aliyev said.
He was speaking Nov. 27 at the 5th practical conference “Oil Spill Control Caspian: Oil Spills at Sea and on Land” in Baku.
He said SOCAR conducts permanent environmental monitoring.
“Analysis of monitoring results of the past years is underway, dynamics are being studied, when needed, necessary measures are taken,” Aliyev said.
