Iranian workers went on strike again over the failure of a pipe-producing company to pay back-payments.

Some 1000 workers of Safa Rolling and Pipe Mills Co. continued their strike on the third day, ILNA news agency reported on February 4.

The workers congregated on the company’s premises on February 3 and demanded the company’s authorities to pay their four-month due wages as well as 16-month due insurance, according to the report.

The workers of country's numerous factories and companies frequently go on strike for not having granted their rights. Last June some 5000 mine workers in the city of Bafq in south eastern Yazd province continued their strike for some 40 days. Several workers have been arrested during the strike.

In recent months, an increasing wave of worker strikes in Iran has challenged President Hassan Rouhani and his administration. Workers have gone on strike for several reasons, mostly due to the failure to pay back-payments.
