Mission for assessing the Visa Liberalization process will visit Georgia to observe the sustainable implementation of the second stage of Visa Liberalization Action Plan.

Georgian citizens are a step closer to enjoy a visa-free travel to the European Union countries, as the country has successfully completed the first phase of the Visa Liberalization process and moved onto the next step on October 29, 2014.

Davit Kereselidze, Speaker for Georgia's Foreign Ministry, said the EU experts would focus on the migration and asylum issues as a basis to implement the second stage of VLAP.

The EU experts will meet the representatives of the Internal Affairs, Justice and Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees Ministries of Georgia. The main goal of the visit is to develop a report about the progress they observe in Georgia.

Moreover, the European Union’s missions will regularly visit Georgia until March to evaluate and prepare the progress reports on Georgia’s implementation of the second, third and fourth phases of Visa Liberalization.

Meanwhile, Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian Prime Minister, expressed his hope that positive signs in terms of Visa Liberalization will emerge following the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga in May 21-22, 2015.

EU-Georgia Visa Liberalization Dialogue was launched on June 4, 2012, and the VLAP was presented to Georgian authorities on February 25, 2013.

Georgia will host the EU mission of experts from January 26 to January 30.
