Iran manufactures zero-valent iron nanoparticles
Iranian researchers have produced zerovalent iron (ZVI)
nanoparticles.
ISNA news agency reported that the researchers have produced ZVI at
low costs, which would allow for this Iranian production to become
competitive at relevant world markets.
Another detail that makes Iranian technology competitive is the
fact it has been produced free of chemical components, which are
often used in such technology.
The ZVI nanoparticles are used in water and wastewater industry for
filtering out contaminants such as heavy metals, DCE, TCE and
nitrate.
Earlier, Secretary of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC)
Saeed Sarkar said that Iran has been ranked first in the region and
eighth in the world in science production in the field of
nanotechnology.
According to Sarkar, more than 15,000 experts and researchers are
currently working in the nanoscience domain in the country.
He said that the top priorities of the INIC include energy, health,
water, environment and construction works, adding that 57
nano-related laboratories are currently up and running across
