Georgian president to be accompanied by Deputy FM on foreign trips

There will be a special meeting of the National Security Council on the issue of ambassadors of Georgia, Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze said on June 11.
According to her, she put forward the issue of the reason the President does not sign the presentations on specific individuals of Georgian Foreign Ministry.
She recalled that in the leading countries of the world, such as Germany, Great Britain, Georgia does not have ambassadors because Mikheil Saakashvili refuses to submit them to parliament, as provided by the law.
"We agreed that we will hold a special meeting on the issue of the ambassadors and all issues concerning the diplomatic missions will be discussed," Panjikidze said.
She also said that during the meeting it was agreed that the Georgian President will be accompanied by the one of the Deputy Foreign Minister on all foreign trips.
"It will improve coordination between the Foreign Ministry and the administration of the President, and our joint action on the international area," Panjikidze said.
