Iran’s FM meets his Saudi counterpart
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi on May 13 met with Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Saud al-Faisal, MNA news agency reported.
Salehi left Tehran to take part in the meeting of Organization of the Islamic Conference scheduled to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Fars news agency reported on May 12.
According to the report, the meeting is aimed to discuss Mali crisis.
Salehi said that he would explain Iran's position on the resolving Mali crisis.
On January 11, France launched a war due to the Mali government request against extremist Islamic groups in Mali.
Salehi called on regional bodies and groupings in Africa and Mali's neighboring countries to do their best to restore peace in the African country through collective efforts on Feb.5, saying Iran is ready to help bring back peace and stability to Mali.
He noted that in Iran's opinion the crisis in Northern Mali will be soothed only through respect for the United Nations' resolutions and support for the regional organizations such as the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
