Gay club attacked in Moscow
Unknown assailants have attacked a gay club in downtown Moscow, the Life News website said, RIA Novosti reported.
About 20 masked attackers, some of them with their heads shaved, suddenly ran into the 7freedays club where about 80 people were celebrating the so-called "coming out day" marked by those who openly identify themselves as belonging to the LGBT community, Pavel Somburov, a gay activist, told Life News.
The assailants overturned tables and beat visitors, injuring many of them, Somburov said. All attackers left before police arrived.
"At about 22:30 Moscow Time [1830 GMT] the officer on duty received calls from citizens. The callers said several aggressively minded people entered the club," the Russian Interior Ministry said commenting on the incident.
"A conflict with them ended in a brawl," the ministry said, adding that police officers were working on the site.
