Georgian president pardons 168
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili pardoned 168 prisoners on the Day of the Assumption of the Virgin, Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze said at a briefing Tuesday.
She said that all 168 prisoners will leave prison today. Among those pardoned are a few women, but no minors.
"None of those pardoned committed a heinous crime," the minister said.
The Pardon Commission under the President recommended pardoning 131 prisoners.
