Three Armenian ministers to be sacked shortly: paper

YEREVAN – Three Armenian ministers will be dismissed in the coming days, the country’s opposition newspaper Zhamanak (Time) reported.

President Serzh Sargsyan is expected to fire the ministers of economics, agriculture and ecology, the paper claimed. The dates of their dismissal are not reported.

But rumors suggest that the secretary of the National Security Council, Artur Baghdasarian, has asked President Sargsyan not to sack the agriculture minister.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan has recently directed a wave of criticism at a number of officials, including the ministers of agriculture and education, over failing to fulfill their duties.

Earlier, the Armenian minister of justice, the mayor of Yerevan and the president’s chief accountant were dismissed.
