Chemical industry develops rapidly in Turkmenistan

By Kamila Aliyeva

The chemical industry with a huge resource potential is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Turkmen economy.

The construction of the largest in Central Asia mining and processing complex for the production of potash fertilizers has already been completed in the Garlyk region of Lebap province.

Besides, the country is building large industrial complexes for the production of urea and ammonia. In addition, the production of a new type of fertilizer, oxyhumate, was launched at the enterprise of Turkmenabat. Ammonium and ammonium superphosphate are also produced at this enterprise.

Turkmenistan also has gas fields containing highly-structured ethane and in this connection the construction of a gas chemical complex in the shortest possible time, in 5 years, will allow the country to establish a wide production of polyethylene and polypropylene.

The synthesis of these industries will create conditions for the release of various types of polymers used as means for production of hundreds of industrial product items, as well as of products that serve as raw materials for rubber and rubber production.
