National Independence Day of Colombia marked in Baku
The Embassy of Colombia in Baku hosted a reception on the Colombian National Independence Day on July 20.
Charge d’Affairs of Colombia in Azerbaijan, Marta Galindo Peña delivered a speech that have tackled bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia, the embassy reported.
The Colombian head of mission mentioned synergies between two states in regards of peoples’ hospitality, culture and nature. By quoting Noble Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez, she rendered a tribute to Azerbaijani poets such as Nizami Gandjavi, Imadaddin Nasimi and Mirza Alakbar Sabir.
Furthermore, she mentioned upcoming bilateral cooperation facts such as translation of Latin American literature into Azerbaijani language, IV Spanish language course for young Azerbaijani diplomats in the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and also cooperation in sports such as boxing, gymnastics and chess.
The future cooperation in spheres of infrastructure, tourism and further expansion of economic ties have also been cited.
Ambassador on Specific Issues of the Azerbaijani Foreign Gunduz Jafarov, for his part, noted successfully developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia.
The ambassador emphasized 20 years of diplomatic relations between two countries.
In spite of the distance between states the Embassy of Colombia in Azerbaijan that functions already for 2 years and several months is an example of strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia.
The representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities, the Members of Parliament, the Diplomatic Missions accredited in Azerbaijan and the intellectuals of Azerbaijan participated in the event.
