Brazil,Azerbaijan tighten relations

Brazil and Azerbaijan have mulled ways to deepen the ties as Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Committee for International and Inter-parliamentary Relations, met Head of Foreign Affairs Secretariat of the Brazil Deputies Chamber Atila Lins and Counsellor Marcus Andre Rouanet Machado De Mello in Baku on September 15.

Seyidov spoke about bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of inter-parliamentary relations for the country`s Parliament adding that Azerbaijan is interested in expanding bonds with Brazil.

Committee Member Asim Mollazade stressed the significance of further development of these ties and noted that Brazil has great touristic opportunities.

Atila Lins, in turn, said Brazil attached great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan, the country of oil and gas.

He said there were great opportunities for establishing relations in energy field.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Brazil were established in 1993. Brazilian Embassy in Azerbaijan was opened in June 2009. Azerbaijan's Embassy was established in Brazil in 2012.

Azerbaijan and Brazil share common commitments to universal values, the rule of international law, the principles of the United Nations, including respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders.
