Aliyev approves new gov`t
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has endorsed the new government
that was disbanded following the country`s presidential
elections.
Under Aliyev`s orders, changes affected only the post of the Economic Development Minister previously held by Heydar Babayev, who was succeeded by Shahin Mustafayev.
Prior to the appointment, Mustafayev acted as deputy minister of taxes and, before that, as vice-president of Azerbaijan`s state oil company, SOCAR.
The sixth presidential election was held in Azerbaijan on October 15 and Ilham Aliyev was overwhelmingly re-elected for a second five-year term. The previous cabinet has remained in place while a new government was being formed. On October 28, the parliament approved the candidacy of Artur Rasizada as Azerbaijan`s prime minister, forwarded to the legislature by President Aliyev.
