GUAM mission content with Azeri pre-election climate
The observation mission of GUAM, a group of Georgia, Ukraine,
Azerbaijan and Moldova, has said it was content with the conditions
provided to candidates running for Azerbaijan`s presidential
elections due Wednesday.
"All hopefuls are enjoying equal conditions to convey their points of view to the electorate," said Valeri Chechelashvili, the head of the group`s mission and GUAM Secretary-General. "We made this conclusion having conducted observations on the pre-election situation in the country."
Chechelashvili said elections were an extremely important event for any country, noting that the low-key course of the pre-election campaigns allowed holding the elections without any undesirable incidents.
He added that the GUAM mission planned to conduct comprehensive monitoring on election day in as many Azerbaijani regions as possible.*
