International Dialogue for Environmental Protection (IDEA) has launched a campaign for tree planting in Narimanov district of Baku on July 16 in the framework of "Stop cutting down trees!" program.

The mobile group of "Emergency care for nature" decided to plant the trees in this area after a report on cutting down of 13 trees at Aga Neymatulla street 67 on July 4.

Some 20 cypress, eastern platonic and mulberry trees have been planted so far.

The mobile group earlier had held a similar planting campaign in Narimanov district of Baku in June and planted 30 trees instead of 22 injured Eldar pines and olive trees burnt as a result of the fire occurred here.

The "Stop cutting down trees!" program is aimed to restore the ecological balance, help preserve the natural environment and enrich the atmosphere with oxygen as well as direct people's attention to the protection of green spaces.

The program is co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Association. They have launched the program to address environmental challenges and tighten public's control over the environment.

The citizens, who witness illegal cutting of trees, can send IDEA their complaints and recommendations by calling 1113.

In addition, citizens will be able to send their reports on any illegal cutting of trees on the official page of the Public Association (http://ideacampaign.org/az/file_uploads_aze.html).

The IDEA is implementing some large-scale local and international projects to protect the environment and promote innovative approaches to solving environmental problems.

Since its establishment three years ago, IDEA has already held a massive tree planting campaign by planting more than 3,472,000 trees.
