Azerbaijan joins UNESCO General Conference

Azerbaijani Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov has addressed the 37th General Conference of UNESCO in Paris, France, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Jabbarov praised Azerbaijan-UNESCO cooperation, particularly in the
field of education. He said the Framework Agreement for Cooperation
in the fields of Education, Science, Culture and Communications was
an outstanding contribution to developing the relations between the
country and the organization.
The Minister hailed the role of Azerbaijani first lady, President
of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill
ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva in "bringing our cooperation to today's
level".
On the sidelines of the event, Jabbarov met a number of foreign
officials, including Turkish Minister of National Education Nebi
Avci.
Several Heads of State and some 150 ministers and delegates from
all 195 UNESCO Member States have gathered in Paris for the
Organization's General Conference. This 37th session will shape the
Organization's strategy and direction for the next eight years. The
Conference is also expected to confirm another four-year term for
Irina Bokova as Director-General. She was nominated for a second
term by UNESCO's Executive Board last month.
