Azerbaijan may provide continuous service of checkpoints on Iran border

Azerbaijan's Customs is well positioned to provide round the clock operation of checkpoints on the border with Iran, the head of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan, Aydin Aliyev, told reporters on Monday.

"If the decision on the checkpoints' continuous service is adopted, we are fully capable of providing it," Aliyev said.

In addition, according to him, Azerbaijan is interested in the restoration of the Aslandyuz-Goradiz border checkpoint. It was announced at a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Mohsen Pak Ayin last week.

According to him, the ambassador promised to raise the issue with the government of his country.

Aliyev said further that Azerbaijan will assist the Georgian customs in creating the cynology service.

"A decision was made to create a cynology service in Georgia," Aliyev told media after a meeting with head of the Customs Department under the Georgian Finance Ministry Lasha Khuchishvili. "During the meeting, they discussed the ways of rendering assistance to our Georgian colleagues."

He stressed that the parties discussed holding the joint courses.

"Our experts are familiarizing with Georgia's experience in the field of customs clearance and customs facilitation," Aliyev said.
