Campaign to help Syrian refugees launched in Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has launched a campaign to help Syrian refugees affected by the conflict, ARCS said.
The campaign aims to help refugees and displaced people in the tent cities on the Turkish border.
Financial assistance may be provided by money transfer to the bank account of the ARCS or by direct transfer through the 'Online Help' section on the society's website. There is a special category for the campaign, containing the names of organizations and certain persons. Names and the amount of funds are stated on a special table (www.redcrescent.az).
The ARCS conducts such campaigns, based on international practices, in particular in accordance with the mission of the international movement. These kind of successful campaigns were held in order to provide financial assistance to the victims of earthquakes in the Turkish province of Van and the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan as well as the victims of famine in Somalia. These campaigns actively involved local governmental and non-governmental agencies, individuals, businessmen, members of various companies and MPs.
According to the tradition, the first to join the campaign was ARCS President, MP Novruz Aslanov.
