Draft law on charity developed in Azerbaijan

The Parliamentary Committee on Social Policy intends to develop a draft law on charity and sponsorship during the spring session of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) in 2013, deputy chairman of the committee Musa Guliyev told Trend news agency on Thursday.

He said the law will provide for the use of tax benefits in regard to charitable organisations and sponsors, as well as the support of their donor activity.

Use of tax incentives is the most important and difficult issue in adoption of such laws, Guliyev said.

"Negotiations are underway with the relevant authorities on the type of these incentives," he said.

The MP said the law may cover cultural, as well as social and humanitarian projects.

He added that discussion of the draft law in the committee is planned during the parliament's spring session.
