Speaker calls for more Azerbaijanis to be represented in foreign parliaments
Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Oqtay Asadov proposed at a plenary session on Tuesday to pay more attention to the issue of representing Azerbaijanis in the parliaments of foreign countries, Trend news agency reported.
He said that there are many Armenian in the Russian, Ukrainian and Romanian parliaments, but there are no Azerbaijanis there.
MP Siyavush Novruzov said that there is a need to increase the activity of Azerbaijanis in Georgia.
More than 500,000 Azerbaijanis live in Georgia today. However only two people are represented in the parliament, he said.
Novruzov noted that Azerbaijanis living in Georgia must learn the Georgian language.
