The two countries' governments are also expected to ink agreements on cooperation in the fields of information technologies and state service, the Ukrainian president's spokeswoman Irina Vannikova was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying.
Vannikova told the press Monday that Presidents Viktor Yushchenko and Ilham Aliyev are due to discuss a wide range of issues on political, trade and economic, and cultural cooperation. The two are also expected to moot topical international issues, including ways of stepping up collaboration within the regional group GUAM.
Vannikova reminded that the Ukrainian capital will host a summit on energy security on Thursday and Friday. The leaders of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Poland and Romania have already confirmed their participation at the event.
The preliminary outcomes of a feasibility study on the Eurasia oil transport corridor project will be high on the summit agenda. Leaders will also consider a concept on establishing an informal commonwealth of energy transit states in the territory stretching from the Baltic to the Black and Azov Seas.
