Azercell supports corporate responsibility training for journalists

BAKU – Azerbaijan’s leading cellular operator Azercell supported a training on corporate social responsibility for over 20 local media representatives held last week.

In his opening remarks, Fakhri Abbasov, an Azercell Telecom expert on media, said an event on this topic was being held for journalists in Azerbaijan for the first time.

"Though corporate social responsibility is a relatively new concept for Azerbaijani companies, Azercell Telecom LLC has been committed to its principles in this area for many years," Abbasov said. "With the aid of corporate social responsibility, we have set out a goal to protect the values of our country, foster new values and share existing ones."

Abbasov voiced hope that the Azercell-supported training would help to increase the awareness of journalists as well as Azerbaijani public on corporate responsibility issues.

Participants received certificates from Azercell at the end of the two-day session.

"We are confident that the more knowledge journalists have on the topic, the more are the benefits for themselves and our society as a whole," Ulviyya Hasanzadeh, the head of Azercell’s corporate communications unit, said while presenting the certificates. "On one hand, journalists will have more comprehensive knowledge…and improve their skills. On the other hand, the public will have access to all-rounded reports made by professional journalists."
