Azerbaijan tightens security after deadly Moscow blast

BAKU – Security has been tightened in Azerbaijan following Monday’s terrorist attack at Russia's biggest airport, Moscow-Domodedovo.

Law enforcers have stepped up control over strategic facilities including diplomatic missions, airports, key oil pipelines, railway and subway stations, as well as major shopping malls, an Interior Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.

"Yesterday’s terrorist act in Moscow is prompting Azerbaijan’s law enforcement agencies, including Interior Ministry bodies, to be more vigilant and to ensure security measures more reliably," Ehsan Zahidov said.

At least 35 people were killed and about 130 others injured in the suicide bomber’s attack. President Dmitry Medvedev vowed to track down and punish the culprits.
