Azeri soldier killed in mine blast
BAKU – A soldier of the Azerbaijani armed forces was killed after a mine exploded on the contact line with Armenian troops on Tuesday. Another serviceman was severely wounded in the blast, which took place near a village of Azerbaijan’s Goranboy region, the Defense Ministry said.
Azerbaijan and Armenia fought a lengthy war in the early 1990s. Large quantities of mines remain in the frontline regions.
