European Commission head to visit Azerbaijan
BAKU – European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will visit Azerbaijan on January 13-14, the European Commission's office in Brussels reported.
Barroso will discuss economic and political cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan. The focus will be placed on energy projects.
Barroso is expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Other details of the visit, including meetings with senior officials of Azerbaijan, are still worked out, said the European Commission.
Barroso's upcoming visit to Azerbaijan is the first one during his term as the head of the European Commission.
Barroso's visit was expected in June of this year, but was postponed due to reforms in the EU.
