BAKU – A book of articles and translactions by prominent Azerbaijani scholar and the first woman Orientalist Aida Imanguliyeva was presented in Baku last week.

The book by Prof. Imanguliyeva, PhD in Philology, was written by Dr. Vilayat Jafar, who heads the Arab Philosophy department at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences.

The book, entitled "Articles and translations", includes Prof. Imanguliyeva’s works written in 1960-80s and was published on the occasion of her 71st birthday anniversary.

"Mrs Imanguliyeva, the first PhD of science on the Arab language in Azerbaijan’s Oriental studies, opening a new page in contemporary Arab literature research, laid the foundation of this school," the Institute director Govhar Bakhshaliyeva told the presentation ceremony on Saturday.

Bakhshaliyeva said Prof. Imanguliyeva has left behind an abundant heritage and her substantial research has enriched Oriental studies in Azerbaijan and far beyond.

Jafar, the book author, said Imanguliyeva has personified the moral values of the East and West. He described the scholar’s research and translations as "a treasure of Azerbaijani literature".
