Armenian soldier reported killed in military base shooting
YEREVAN – A shooting occurred in an Armenian military base on Thursday, with one soldier reported killed and two others wounded.
Azerbaijani Defense Ministry spokesman Eldar Sabiroghlu said information about the shooting had been acquired from intelligence sources.
But Armenian media claimed that the soldier was killed after Azerbaijani serviceman opened fire.
Sabiroghlu said the allegations had no merit and the Armenians were distorting the motives underlying the incident and "concealing their own crimes".
"They are concealing this crime because tragic incidents in the Armenian military have lately shown no signs of abating," the ministry spokesman said.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades.
