Armenian minister claims Azerbaijan will purchase Russian missiles

BAKU – Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian claims that Azerbaijan will purchase S-300 missiles from Russia.

Ohanian was commenting on the reports that claimed Azerbaijan plans to import the air-defense systems from its northern neighbor, Armenia Today news agency reported.

"As far as we know, these reports have not been refuted, and Azerbaijan is likely to buy S-300 missiles."

Ohanian said Yerevan was not concerned over Baku’s alleged plan.

"Armenia has such systems, and we are good at operating them," he claimed.

Armenia has had territorial claims against Azerbaijan, a South Caucasus neighbor, since the early 1990s. The country’s armed forces have been occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally-recognized territory, defying international law. Azerbaijani officials have repeatedly warned that the country’s land will be freed at any cost.
