Pakistan, Azerbaijan mull military co-op
Pakistan’s Defense Secretary Syed Athar Ali visiting Baku met with
Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Col.-Gen. Safar Abiyev on Thursday,
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said. The parties discussed the
development of military cooperation between the two countries’
defense ministries.
Abiyev said that close partnership is being seen in military cooperation with Pakistan, just like in other fields.
The two mulled the military-political situation in the region. It was also stressed that Armenia, which occupies part of Azerbaijani territory, is impeding a negotiated settlement to the long-lasting Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh conflict.*
