Envoy to Azerbaijan “US internal affair”
The appointment of an ambassador to Azerbaijan is an internal
affair of the US administration, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov
has told journalists.
The minister said Azerbaijan was not the only country to which the
US has not sent an ambassador. "US ambassadors have yet to be
appointed to several other countries and international
organizations, e.g. the OSCE."
Mammadyarov said US-Azerbaijani relations have been at a high level
for the last 20 years and expressed hope that the ambassador would
soon be appointed. "We want a new ambassador to come and start
working soon."
The latest US ambassador left Baku nine months ago. *
