A bus carrying Azerbaijani pilgrims to Karbala, Iraq was subjected
to a shooting in the country’s city of Samarra on Thursday.
Leyla Ahmadova, a 16-year-old resident of the Mashtaga settlement of Baku, who was traveling with her parents, died, while two others were wounded, after unknown individuals opened fire at the bus, Iraqi Ambassador in Baku Arshad Esmaeel told AssA-Irada.
The victim of the terror act was buried in Samarra.
According to the ambassador, the pilgrims were traveling to Iraq illegally, as the visas in their passports were fake.
