About 1850 trees have been planted in Tovuz region and Baku's Khojasan settlement as part of Green Marathon co-organized by the IDEA Public Union and the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry.
The green campaign aims to tackle deforestation and the effects of climate change, as well as educate everyone on the environment and the importance of protecting it.
Nearly 1,250 trees have been planted in Tovuz. The number of planted trees in Khojasan settlement reached 600 trees.
A total of 6883 tress have been already planted in Shamkir, Goygol and Aghdash regions.
Nearly one million trees are expected to be planted in the country this spring and autumn.
The IDEA Public Union was founded in 2011 by Heydar Aliyev Foundation Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva,
The public union aims to promote public awareness on environmental issues and action, collaborate with the youth, promote the education of environmental problems and find proper solutions for them.
It calls upon each individual to care about the environment and to contribute to ongoing efforts against ecological problems.
